An unusual lidded circular box or perhaps jar. It is turned and carved and formed from a ring of wood and has applied metal decoration which appears to be brass and copper. It is clearly hand made and likely of Indian or Middle Eastern origin. Date wise it is probably post war as it does not look like a colonial period design. The lid is tight fitting and made to a tight tolerence for this type of item. A great looking and unusual item.
Minor wear. Once small nick to the lid rim. Knob is glued on, but this is quite possibly original. Base is not totally flat so it will move when pushed on a flat surface.
