A wonderful Indian silver tea set comprising teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl. It is richly decorated with a dense floral pattern in the Northern Indian style and it is probably from the Nagina or Kasmir region and dating around 1850. The teapot features an elephant knop and the handles of the teapot and milk jug are in the form of cobras. The interiors show signs of being gilded originally although it is now rather removed through years of cleaning. The set is unmarked aside some diamond point numerals to the bases of two of the pieces, and perhaps some script in diamond point. A fine looking set in good heavy gauge.
Generally good for period, no serious faults. Normal wear and cleaning, but the decoration is still crisp with no holes. Minor dents to the foot rim of the milk jug. Rim join on the bowl is visible (from production). A couple of minor dents around the base of the teapot. A couple of minor dents to the milk jug and minor deformation of the rim.
