An Art Deco period figure mounted dish with a white onyx base. It is set with a gilt metal figure of a musician with a ruffle collar playing a lute or similar musical instrument. The face appears to be of faux ivory. It is almost certainly of Austrian production and dates around 1930.
The onyx has good striping as you can just about make out in the images and there is a light coloured felt protector to the underside.
No makers marks found which is quite usual for these type of items.
One small chip to top edge as shown in the images. A couple of small bruises to rim. Natural flaws in onyx as expected. Slight losses of gilt to figure. Overall a very attractive piece.
